The first vintage from our Hidden Key Vineyard, our 2021 Proprietary Red is the culmination of more than a decade of effort—planning, planting, and hand-tending these vines, perched on steep slopes fringed with forest. Here in the heart of Napa Valley, the growing season was defined by bright California sunshine and a lack of rainfall. The grapes were harvested by hand, carefully sorted, then fermented in barrel and kept separate to assess the character of each individual block.
After a long, gentle maceration, the wine lots were pressed and aged in French oak barrels and then blended into a wine of delicate aromas and rich textures. Minimal handling and extended barrel aging—28 months total—preserved the freshness of the fruit and added depth and complexity. The energy, focus, and intensity of the vintage is captured in this inaugural release. Bottled unfiltered and unfined, the wine shows a purity and freshness that is remarkable. It leaves you with the sensation that the wine will continue to open and evolve over years in the bottle.
- Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon 95%, Cabernet Franc 5%
