Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Hidden Key Vineyard

The 2023 vintage in Napa Valley will be talked about for years to come. In contrast to most recent growing seasons, 2023 saw above-average winter rainfall, followed by a mild summer and fall. The cool temperatures and long “hang time” resulted in wines with dark but vibrant color and aromatic allure.

This vintage is the perfect opportunity to debut our first bottling of pure Cabernet Sauvignon grown entirely on the Hidden Key Estate, our vineyard at the foot of Spring Mountain, north of St. Helena. The vineyard, some of it literally tucked in the forest, has developed a textured, nuanced character owing to its well-drained soils and hillside aspect, tilting toward the productive morning light and away from the afternoon sun. That complex topography is reflected in our 2023 wine, which exhibits a singular brand of terroir: a woodsy, arboreous air that brings vivid varietal expression and particular generosity and length to the wine.

The grapes were hand-harvested, carefully fermented, and aged for 20 months in half-new French oak barrels, resulting in an elevated level of structure and grip to the wine, with dark color and notes of gravel, chaparral, black fruits, and vanilla bean. With its combination of tannin and natural acidity, the 2023 Arborum Estate Cabernet Sauvignon has a mouth-watering appeal and will age well for years.

Release Fall 2026

We hope this wine elicits thoughts of a peaceful walk in the mountains, with a view of the valley and the subtle aromas of the forest all around. This, after all, is the essence of the Hidden Key.
